We love our romance... but sometimes nothing beats a great Fantasy or a juicy crime (can you say "shirtless Jack Reacher" anyone?).
Here at Fangtastic Fiction we're avid readers of our favourite genres, and often follow authors as well as series we enjoy. We fall in love with our authors, the way they create characters that come alive, and we fall in love with the characters themselves.
There are so many terrific authors giving us excellent books. Here are a few favourites.

Jennifer RardinI can remember being completely entranced when I read my first Jaz Parks book by Jennifer Rardin. In the years since then I've come to know Jennifer a little, mainly through twitter and blogs, as a warmhearted and generous person who appreciated her fans and who loved writing and above all her family.
I was completely shocked and saddened to hear about Jennifer's sudden death on Monday 20 September, 2010.
I think that there can be no greater testimonial to Jennifer than to have her Jaz Parks series continue to grow in readership and poplarity. If you like interesting, action-packed urban fantasies and you haven't had a chance to jump into these books ... then this is the time to try these books out.
The 7th book in her Jaz Parks series will be out this November. The final book in the series was completed before her passing and will be out in June 2011.
Jennifer did a number of interviews as an author, but her comments over at Deviant Divas on how she came up with the character of Jaz Parks (http://deviantdivaseroticbookreview.com) gives a wonderful insight into the author and her main character.
Early on I got pretty disgusted with the heroines authors kept throwing at me. I thought they were either too masculine or too dependent on men to get the job done. I wanted to read about a woman who was able act like herself while still succeeding at her chosen task. I also missed the human element, and by that I mean, we all have to deal with family issues and crazy, irritating friends while we’re trying to do stellar jobs at work. So I wanted to bring those parts of the character’s life into play as well. And, I got really tired of being utterly depressed at the end of the story. Life sucks enough. Give me something to laugh at when I dive into a book, will ya? Thus, Jaz was born.
We'll all greatly miss Jennifer Rardin and her wonderful writing.
Gail CarrigerIf you're following us anywhere, blog, newsletter, twitter... you'll know that without a doubt our favourite recent 'discovery' is Gail Carriger. Her debut book, Soulless, celebrated it's debut release in Australia and New Zealand simultaniously with book 2 in the Parasol Protectorate: 'Changeless', in May 2010.
If you want to know more about Gail then check out her very funny blog on her website. And make sure to nip into the bon bon box of delights with her chapter excerpts in our shop.
Check her author review page for more information on this impressive new author.
