Book Title: Claire de Lune

I really liked this book. All the characters played a big role. Its full of mystery. Though I really don’t know what part her friend, Emily, played in the book.

I had quite a few favourite characters but shockingly mine was claire’s mum (Marie). I really liked how she was down to earth. Even though she wasn’t around much she was actually pretty brave. She just puts reality into the story.

The way the characters were written was pretty good. Even though the end is the complete opposite of their characters at the start. E.g Zahlia. She seemed like a cool person. One to help Claire through everything.

There were a few boring parts in the story. Nothing happened for a long time. It was just a waiting game.

I definitely have to say my favourite moment was when Claire got into a fight with Zahlia. It showed a fierce side to both of them. And it also envolved a lot of drama. Drama is always good; Especially where this book is concerned.

The ending was awesome. If there was another book you could pretty much determine what would happen next. All I can say is it left me satisfied.

The debut novel from Christine Johnson is a great example of teen paranormal writing, it’s well written, good solid plot, well developed characters and will certainly appeal to teens. However, it does not cross over into the adult market. Well, not unless you like your characters to be true examples of whining teens.

The surprise of Claire discovering she’s a werewolf is killed by the book blurb, but there are still plenty of twists and turns to be discovered, and they will leave you guessing right up until the last moment.

The relationship between Claire and her mother is dysfunctional, but also underdeveloped. In contrast the relationship between Claire and Matthew is beautifully written and so real you feel like you’re there, and the relationship between Claire and her best friend Emily is full of all the fun, and difficulties, found with the best friend dynamic. The characters are, for the most part, very believable.

Claire de Lune really is well written and enjoyable, but a little too ‘teen’ to make it a light adult read. Leave this one for the real teens, they’re going to love it.
