Heather Graham knows how to write a taut thriller with sexy characters and a strong plot – and Nightwalker is yet more proof of this. Nightwalker is a blend of paranormal mystery, Native American shamanism, Las Vegas glitz and a wonderful romance. All the elements are kept in wonderful balance, but for me the highlight was Ringo, the ghost of a gunslinger complete with clinking spurs. Ringo was simply a solidly good character. Heather Graham resisted making him the clown in the drama and so the entire book was enriched for his presence. Likewise Jessy’s grandfather is allowed to retain his dignity despite his age and despite the voices he can hear. In every scene with Timothy you really care and worry for him. With her skill with the subsidiary characters, it’s no wonder that Jessy and Dillon are marvelous! Nightwalker has so many strong elements to it – it’s a terrific thriller with wonderful characters you really feel for and the ‘otherworld’ of ghosts and Shamanistic guides was intrinsic to the plot. This is a really good Sunday read! |
