Spread the word… you want to ‘like’ us, you know you do :)

Fang’s New Focus!

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

You probably noticed that we’ve been offline for the last week, and waiting with bated breath to find out what we’re up to next… well… now we can share.

We originally developed Fangtastic Fiction as the place for people to find out about – and be able to buy – paranormal romance and urban fantasy books. However focusing on our favourite genres AND running inventory and stock take, all while trying to stay competitive is a very big task, so instead …..

We’ve decided to tighten our focus on our greatest passion, which is the sharing of views, reviews and recommendations on authors and their books that we think you would enjoy. And when you want to buy books? We’re no longer going to be selling directly ourselves. Instead we’ll still show a comprehensive inventory and details on books and options of where you can buy the books …. and then you pick the price and who you want to buy from.

Doesn’t that sound like a much better way of doing it?

lots-of-coversWe will be adding and changing our bookstore options overtime, as we still want to be able to support in dependant local bookstores, but we also understand that choice is important. With the changing landscape of book buying, and the increasing availability of eBooks in Australia and New Zealand we don’t want to limit your options, so if you have a independent bookstore to recommend (or if you run one and would like us to know about it) feel free to let us know. We certainly want people to be able to find their new favourite book at their new favourite local – as well as from larger bookstores.

In the coming weeks and months we’ve got some really exciting things planned, including giveaways, competitions… and a couple of special projects we’re working on to get readers and authors in touch with each other. So many great authors write in our favourite genres, not just talented authors, but really genuine and nice people, and we want you to get to know them too… so stay tuned for more excitement in this new chapter of Fangbooks.

We’ll make announcements on new releases and special offers on twitter, so if you’re not following, you might like to start now!  Or you can always just keep checking here at Fangtastic Fiction– and that way you won’t miss our latest blog post either!

As always, if there is anything you don’t see listed that should be, let us know! We love to hear from our fellow readers, so don’t be afraid to drop us a line – compliments or criticisms … we love it all!  Don’t forget, you can always stalk with us on twitter http://www.twitter.com/fangbooks or subscribe to the blog.

New Young Adult Reviewer

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Fangtastic Fiction started with the primary focus being on Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy books – ADULT paranormal romance and urban fantasy books. But one thing that Twilight has taught us, is that there are a wide number of Teen Paranormal books that cross genres and age boundaries like never before.

But not all good books cross that age barrier and this has been one of the problems we have encountered reviewing Teen Paranormal books. Several of the books that have received less than favourable reviews from Fangtastic Fiction reviewers have been because they didn’t make the leap from a Young Adult book to an Adult paranormal or fantasy novel.

So with that in mind, Fangtastic Fiction is delighted to be able to bring into our small group of reviewers Kaylee who will be solely reviewing YA books, from the Teen perspective!

We are hoping that this will give our readers and our customers a more balanced review of a title. So if you’re after a good teen paranormal, keep your eye our for books reviewed by Kaylee.

Her first book reviewed is Fallen by Lauren Kate so you can read the full review on the book page: Fallen by Lauren Kate

Welcome to FANGtastic Fiction!

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Welcome to our updated site! So many have commented that they loved the blog style of our shop, so we thought ‘what the heck’ lets actually turn it into a blog shop, where you can add comments too!

Fangtastic Fiction is Australia’s first online Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy reference site and bookstore (although we do hide a little general romance, fantasy and Suspense in our pages).  And from next month we’ll also be shipping in New Zealand.

On our authors’ page we have gathered information of some of the major authors in the genre, from links to author websites, interviews with the authors or our own review on the author, the type of books they write and what you can expect  from their books.  With our reviews, recommendations and information we want to help you find just what you’d like to read next – and through our bookshop we’ll then get that book to you quickly and at a discount to what you’d normally pay.

It’s been a fun journey for us and we hope you like what we’ve created. However we’d love input from other fans of these genres, so please send us your ideas or requests of what else we could include. And if you can’t find a book that you want please let us know! We’ll be happy to see if we can get it in for you.

In the meantime, grab a drink and have a browse … and enjoy your reading!

We’re Tweeting Too

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Nothing like sitting on the back of the band wagon to catch up on your reading.

We’re hunting down all our favourite authors on twitter and following their every move.  Come stalk with us! http://twitter.com/fangbooks/

We’ll also let you know when we’ve got a new review, and maybe some on the stop competitions :)
